HEAD COACH
CALEB WUG
Caleb Wug is a USAV Volleyball Coach and LHSAA Certified Coach who has been the head volleyball coach of the Louisiana Tech Men's Club Team since 2018. Caleb helped create the club team alongside former player, Jacob Tidwell, and helped market the organization into a well recognized team in the southern region. Caleb also helped in the creation of the ULM Men's Club Team in the Spring of 2022 with former Louisiana Tech player, Jasper Queen.
Caleb obtained a Bachelor's Degree at Louisiana Tech in Construction Engineering Technology in 2017. He also returned for a Master's Degree in Engineering Management in 2019.
During his time in college at Louisiana Tech, Caleb began his interest in Volleyball by playing intramurals with friends. He quickly grew to love the sport and became rather successful during his time - winning over 22 championships and helped Louisiana Tech sweep the State Intramural Tournament in men's, women's, and co-ed volleyball for the first time in school history.
While coaching the Bulldogs in the Winter and Spring, Caleb has also been serving as the Junior Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Asst. Coach at Ruston High School since 2018 during the Fall off-seasons - where he specializes in team Defense and Serving. In 2025, Caleb stepped down from his primary role at Ruston High as he began his transition to coach full time for the Louisiana Tech Men's team. During this new adjustment period, he stayed involved by leading small-group practices for the varisty and junior varisty teams during season.
During his college years, Caleb served as a team assistant for Louisiana Tech's Womens Volleyball Team for two years. He also coached a recreational soccer team in 2016 for the City of Ruston as well as a competitive travel team in 2013 for Alexandria.
Caleb has had several achievements throughout his coaching career. His most recent award being that he was selected as the National D1 Coach of the Year at the club team's Nationals Tournament in April of 2023. In 2025, he also led Louisisana Tech's B-Team to the Nationals Tournament for the first time in program history.
Some of his other noticeable achievements include placing first with the Ruston High JV Team at the Airline Invitational Tournament in 2023. He also assisted Ruston High's varsity team in reaching state playoffs the past six consecutive seasons as well as being District Champions on multiple occasions. This past 2023 season, the varsity team also earned a trip to the State Championship Tournament for the first time in program history.
ASSISTANT COACH
HELAINA DESENTZ
Coach Helaina Desentz was brought in for the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach. She specializes in defense and serve-receive.
Coach Helaina has many years of experience under her belt as a defensive player. She comes to Louisiana Tech following her previous tenure with the University of Louisiana Monroe Men's Club Volleyball team.
Coach Helaina is also a certified collegiate line judge for North Louisiana. She also has spent several years as an LHSAA Certified Official for District 2. Stemming from her well-awarded background, she has taken over as the primary defensive coach for Louisiana Tech Men's Club Volleyball as she completed her first season.
Coach Desentz has a very strong background in defense and passing. During her high school career at New Iberia Senior High, she unraveled a passion for the game that allowed her to accumulate many distinguished awards as well as placing and holding various school records.
This is also not new territory for Coach Helaina. Not only did she coach the ULM Men's Club Team in 2023, she also coached back at New Iberia Senior High while attending college for several years, coaching fundamental skills to the freshman team.
Across her high school career, Coach Helaina has many awards and records that she has accumulated throughout the years.
While attending New Iberia Senior High, Coach Helaina lettered all four years of playing. She also won District MVP in 2013 and was awarded to the Best of the Teche 1st Teams in 2012 and 2013.
Along with awards, Coach Helaina holds several records for New Iberia Senior High. What's her most distinguished record? She is the all-time ace leader, holding a record of 191 aces in her four year career. To tack on to that record, she, too, has served the most single match aces (11). Coach Helaina also lays claim to being a season leader in aces (86).
Not only is she a tough server, Coach Helaina is also a scrappy defender. She is the second all-time digs leaders at her fellow high school. She also ranks 2nd and 3rd on the leaderboard for digs in a season (537 and 524).
